Kristal Hartsfield is an award-winning strategist, a seasoned policy expert, and a highly sought-after leader with over 20 years of experience working across corporate, nonprofit, federal, state, and local government environments.
Her decade-long tenure on Capitol Hill focusing on domestic energy & environment, foreign affairs, extractive industries (Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa), banking and financial services policy has seen her in several significant roles. This includes serving as Communications Director for a Member of Congress, House Policy Committee Director and Senior Professional Staff on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, full committee.
In the political arena, Kristal has developed and implemented winning strategies for state and national campaigns, demonstrating her profound understanding of communities, local on-the-ground issues and national electoral dynamics.
Internationally, she has represented the United States to over 30 nations and lectured at renowned institutions such as the United Nations and universities across the globe. Locally, her community commitment includes board memberships at Global Citizens Public Charter School in Washington, DC and Inova Fairfax Hospital, in Fairfax, VA.
Originally from Atmore, AL, Kristal has received numerous accolades, being featured in The National Journal as a “Top Influential Woman in Washington”, being named a “Rising Star” by Campaigns & Elections Magazine and one of Capitol Hill’s “Top 40 under 40, Most Influential People”, by Politico magazine.
Kristal is a graduate of, former national brand ambassador for, and the recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she received a BA in Political Science/International Relations. She is also armed with an MBA in Finance and a M.Sc. in Management from the University of Maryland, College Park. Kristal resides in Washington, DC with her husband, children and English Bulldog, Bentley.
